More about EMS
Electromagnetic waves include light, microwaves, x-rays, radio and television transmissions. The different names refer to the different
frequencies they represent. These electromagnetic fields exert a force on particles that possess the property of electric charge.
Electric Charges (or electric current) create a motion which produces the magnetic field. The magnetic field causes the magnetic
force like we associate with magnets. These forces can be measured.
In Electromagnetic Surveying we are interested in measuring the differences in the electromagnetic signature of the area we are
exploring. The changes in different structures create changing electromagnetic properties. This is what we use to narrow our search area.
The diagram below is an example of what we see. The red lines are negative flows. These indicate the top edge of a fracture. They will
produce a reaction for water witches just like the positive flows. The red flows, however, rarely produce significant water amounts. The positive
flows (blue lines), are what we use to narrow our search and usually contain water. In addition, by selecting the intersecting flows, we have two
opportunities to obtain significant water.
